Fishing Report from TPWD (May 21)

GOOD. Water stained; 70 degrees; 0.10 feet below pool. White bass are on shallow points and flats early morning feeding in little as 2 feet of water. Birds have started working in the shallow areas so throw small swimbaits, tail spinners or rattle traps. You can also blind cast topwaters and catch numbers of fish. Later in the morning white bass are moving out to deeper water on long points, road beds and levees. Crappie are relating to brush piles in 15-20 feet of water. Crappie are showing up at bridge columns and they are moving around drop off going from structure to structure. Catfish are good on the rocks around the lake using a slip cork and prepared punch bait. Chumming will help bring the schools into your areas. Report by John Varner, John Varner's Guide Service. As we enjoy a weekend of fishing we salute and honor our Nation’s heroes this Memorial Day. Anticipate increased recreational boater traffic this weekend.
